U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service Deputy Director General Golsen to Attend Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening of the Midwest Rural Export Center in Des Moines, Iowa

WASHINGTON - On Monday, December 4, 2023, Deputy Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service James Golsen will be in Des Moines, Iowa, to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) Midwest Rural Export Center in Des Moines, Iowa. 

Deputy Director General Golsen will also present a U.S. Department of Commerce Export Achievement Certificate to Jake Oakland, President and CEO of Percival Scientific, Inc. as an exemplary exporter in Rural America, and for the company’s success in exporting models of research chambers that advance research in climate, human health and food production in international markets. Representatives from federal state and local governments will be in attendance along with local business community leaders.

The Midwest Rural Export Center in Des Moines is the third facility of its kind in the United States and will support rural U.S. businesses across six states (Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and South Dakota) to bring local products and services to world markets, creating jobs across America as a result. 

ITA’s U.S. Commercial Service is dedicated to helping American businesses, large and small, succeed internationally through exports and is comprised of a global network of experienced trade professionals located in more than 100 locations throughout the United States and more than 80 U.S. embassies and consulates abroad. ITA’s Rural Export Centers, along with its Global Diversity Export Initiative, collaborate with state, local and tribal governments, economic development organizations, and community leaders to bring export assistance to a diverse array of businesses in underserved communities.
