BUREAU OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS (BEA)

An integral part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is the only official U.S. government source for FDI data. BEA produces economic accounts statistics to help measure and understand the nation’s economic performance. BEA collects source data, performs research analysis, and develops estimation methodologies to prepare national, regional, industry, and international accounts of economic growth and development, interindustry relationships, and the national position in the world economy.

BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS (BLS)

Part of the U.S. Department of Labor, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) measures labor market activity across the country by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating economic data. The numerous resources provided by BLS include indexes of economic indicators and granular data on employment, productivity, prices, and wages.

As the sole federal agency focused exclusively on economic development, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration seeks to promote innovation and competitiveness by facilitating and supporting regional economic development efforts across the country.

StatsAmerica: Run by the Indiana Business Research Center at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and supported by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, StatsAmerica provides accessible and functional data from hundreds of federal, state, commercial, and private sources. StatsAmerica adds further value to this data through graphs, time series, geographic comparisons, and maps.
