WASHINGTON - On Monday, December 11, 2023, Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade Diane Farrell will join federal, state and local dignitaries and representatives for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) Pacific Northwest Rural Export Center at the U.S. Commercial Service office in Boise, Idaho. The new center will support rural businesses across seven states (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Northern California) to bring local products and services to markets worldwide, creating jobs and opportunities for rural underserved communities.

ITA’s U.S. Commercial Service is dedicated to helping American businesses, large and small, succeed internationally through exports and is comprised of a global network of experienced trade professionals in more than 100 locations throughout the United States and more than 80 U.S. embassies and consulates abroad. ITA’s Rural Export Centers, along with its Global Diversity Export Initiative, collaborate with state, local and tribal governments, economic development organizations, and community leaders to bring export assistance to this diverse array of businesses.

At the grand opening ceremony, Deputy Under Secretary Farrell will present U.S. Department of Commerce Export Achievement Certificates to two Idaho businesses in recognition of their success in exporting to new international markets: Rekluse, a Boise company founded in 2002 specializing in performance clutch technology products that improve riding experiences for power sports enthusiasts worldwide, and Hamilton Manufacturing Inc. of Twin Falls, a woman-owned business producing the highest quality products in the erosion control, dust control, and insulation industries for over 60 years.

Later in the day, Deputy Under Secretary Farrell will meet with the Idaho District Export Council to discuss issues of trade and regional exports. She will also tour two U.S. Commercial Service-Boise client sites, the National Interagency Fire Center and Aviation Specialties Unlimited.
