Temporary Entry
Last published date:

Under the terms of the U.S.-Chile FTA, Chile will permit duty-free temporary admission of professional equipment necessary for carrying out the business activity of a businessperson who qualifies for temporary entry under Chilean law. Temporary duty-free admission of goods intended for display or demonstration and commercial samples is allowed.

Temporary entry of food samples is regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Health. If the product contains ingredients of animal origin a special permit needs to be submitted to SAG before entry. The form can be found in the Ministry of Agriculture’s website, under “Solicitud de Permiso de Importación Pecuario”. Only Chilean agents or individuals may apply for temporary entry permits.

Exporters should contact the U.S. Commercial Service with any questions.
