SIMA Feature: 
Updated HTS Product Codes for SIMA

Following the changes made to Harmonized Tariff codes effective February 2026 and published by the US International Trade commission, SIMA added the two changed codes for carbon and alloy mechanical pipe to the licensing application.  The list of codes required has been adjusted.  The two new codes are: 

  • 7306301010: Other tubes of iron or steel, welded, of circular cross section, having a wall thickness of less than 1.65 mm, and internally coated with a non-electrically insulating material, suitable for use as electrical conduit.
  • 7306301090: Other tubes of iron or steel, welded, of circular cross section, having a wall thickness of less than 1.65 mm, Other.

Import Licensing
All steel mill imports into the United States require an import license for Customs entry summary. The steel import license is an automatic license used for data collection purposes only. Importers and customs brokers use this website to obtain their steel licenses prior to completing their Customs entry documentation.

Commerce publishes: (1) the U.S. Steel Import Monitor combines data from Census and import licenses, updated weekly; (2) the Global Steel Trade Monitor shows trends for top steel trading countries; (3) the Steel Export Monitor shows public U.S. steel export data; (4) the Melt and Pour Dashboard displays country of melt and pour data collected from SIMA's licensing application data. and (5) the Downstream Steel Monitor shows U.S. imports/exports of steel-containing products.
