FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 3, 2023 Contact: Office of Public Affairs Email: publicaffairs@trade.gov

WASHINGTON – From April 4-6, 2023, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Enforcement and Compliance Lisa Wang will travel to Tulsa and Stillwater, Oklahoma to better understand the unique opportunities and challenges facing local businesses, manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers in the global trade environment.

The visit is an International Trade Administration (ITA) ‘hometown tour,’ an initiative that connects trade enforcement and compliance experts with businesses and communities across the country to provide resources and technical assistance that aim to improve America’s economic competitiveness.

On April 6, in Tulsa, Assistant Secretary Wang will host a roundtable conversation with community members and regional stakeholders, including tribal nation members and executives. The discussion will include a focus on ITA’s services, including its enforcement of U.S. laws to defend American manufacturers, workers and farmers from unfair foreign trade practices. Later that day, the delegation will tour the manufacturing facilities of Arcosa Wind Towers Inc. and Webco Industries Inc.

Assistant Secretary Wang and ITA officials will also visit Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and meet with students, faculty, and staff at the Center for Sovereign Nations and School of Global Studies to encourage students to consider careers in public service and discuss the federal government hiring process.

“I look forward to meeting with Oklahoma’s manufacturing workers to gain a better understanding of their manufacturing processes as well as the issues these businesses face in international trade,” said Assistant Secretary Wang. “We are also excited to partner with the University of Oklahoma and to engage with students about job opportunities at ITA and share information about ITA’s role in enforcing U.S. trade laws and agreements to ensure fair trade.”
