Protecting Intellectual Property
Last published date:

There is no effective intellectual property protection law in Somalia.  Regional and international IP certifications are technically enforceable in Somalia, but the weak judicial system means resolving IP claims through Somali courts remains challenging.

In any foreign market, companies should consider several general principles for effective protection of their intellectual property.  The Department of Commerce provides related resources at Protecting Intellectual Property and Stopfakes.gov.
