The importation and exportation of certain goods are prohibited, and some others are subject to restrictions to protect the safety and lives of humans, animals, and plants, safeguard national security, as well as protect artistic, cultural, and intellectual property. Examples include the importation of certain food products, drugs, pharmaceuticals, environmentally hazardous products, seeds, weapons, explosives, and antiques.
