Overview of the different labeling and marking requirements, including any restrictive advertising or labeling practices and where to get more information.
Imported food products’ labels must indicate the manufacturer’s name, contents, weight, and “best before” data. Armenia has recently adopted language requirements for imports of some products, notably food. Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) technical regulations require that food products marketed in the customs union be labelled in Russian and in any other language required by each member state. A complete list of requirements may be obtained from the National Body for Standards and Metrology (SARM); http://www.sarm.am/. Companies wishing to obtain bar codes for their products should apply to SARM. Armenia is a member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and aims to harmonize its systems of standards in compliance with ISO requirements within the next few years.
