United Kingdom Intelligent Ship Competition

The UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) is seeking proposals for novel technologies to revolutionize military decision-making and automation. $3.7M is currently available to fund proposals that would develop a human-machine network that could work collaboratively on military platforms. The MOD seeks projects to support the evaluation and demonstration of a range of human-machine teams, or Agents for Decision-Making, and their integration within the Intelligent Ship Artificial Intelligence Network. An agent could be an AI application, a human, or a mix of the two.

Intelligent Ship is a MOD project to develop novel technologies to facilitate the use of intelligent systems within future platforms, with potential for utilization across defense. The aim is evaluating technologies to enable revolutionary future platform to enhance UK military advantage. The specific objectives for this competition is to demonstrate and evaluate a number of different AI applications working together with humans in a collaborative environment to deliver military effects, and to demonstrate improved human-machine performance in complex machine-driven environments through the application of appropriate human-machine teaming.

Proposals for funding to meet these challenges must be submitted by Tuesday 4 August 2020 via the MOD submission service
