South Korea Cybersecurity

South Korea National Intelligence Service (NIS) reported that South Korea was hit by a daily average of 1.2 million hacking attempts in 2022.

South Korea deemed cybersecurity as a matter of national security. Although the country boasts one of the world’s fastest IT infrastructures, it also has an infrastructure that is vulnerable to cyberattacks. The frequency and gravity of recent cyberattacks prompted the South Korean government to develop a National Cybersecurity Strategy that includes strengthening partnerships with foreign companies and expanding investment opportunities in conjunction with South Korea’s domestic cybersecurity industry.

Many U.S. companies providing cybersecurity services in South Korea are partnering with small and medium sized South Korean partners. These companies are interested in filling gaps in technology and product/service line-ups to meet a wide range of cybersecurity needs. There are also opportunities for firms that provide cybersecurity related consulting and training services.

Below are lists of some of the main threat vectors identified by the major players in the South Korean market.
