Mexico's Update for Steel Imports Regulations

On May 9, 2022, the Mexican Ministry of Economy published an update to the General Rules and Criteria for Foreign Trade. The document in article 2.2.19 instructs that the Mill Certificate should be issued by the Mill and certifies the company that produced the steel. In addition, the Certificate of Quality is the document issued and endorsed by the manufacturer for the merchandise intended for import.

We strongly recommend U. S. exporters confirm with their Mexican clients their awareness of these changes. Be alert that the Mexican government is increasing the oversight on this type of import.
