India Battery Storage

Solar Energy Corporation of a government-owned enterprise under the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) invites proposals for setting up a 1 gigawatt hour battery energy storage system. On October 28, 2021 at 4:00pm (Indian Standard Time), SECI will discuss the draft guidelines and request for selection documents via Microsoft Teams.  Please RSVP to Mr. Jayansh Gaur jayansh.gaur@seci.co.in and Mr. Pratik Prasun pratikpr@seci.co.in by October 26, 2021. Prospective bidders may also submit comments on the released draft document to SECI.

The pilot project is a joint venture of MNRE and Ministry of Power.  The goal of the project is to accelerate the deployment of energy storage technologies in India and better utilize the transmission infrastructure in the country. In July 2021, India’s installed renewable energy capacity reached 100 GW, an important milestone in India’s quest to reach 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Energy storage systems will help India integrate new renewable energy supplies into the electric grid to improve grid stability and reliability.
