Hungary and EU Common Energy Policy

The recent changes in energy markets, notably the dramatic shift in our security position in recent weeks, necessitate a considerable acceleration of the transition to clean energy, which will eventually strengthen Europe’s energy independence.


Immediate actions are being made to mitigate the detrimental consequences that high prices will have on households, farmers, businesses, and industry.


Eliminating reliance on Russian fossil fuels will speed Member States’ move away from traditional energy sources, a fact that must be taken into account in the operation of the electricity market.


The implementation of a gas storage scheme across Europe will increase preparedness for the coming winter season and beyond. The most effective response to the difficulties that are faced is a well-coordinated collective effort.
