China’s battle for ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘Clear Water’ will continue to present opportunities for U.S. environmental companies.

Speaking during the Two Sessions, Premier Li Keqiang said that China will continue to enhance pollution prevention and control through eliminating heavy air pollution, cleaning polluted water bodies in cities, and reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by 13.5% and 18% respectively.

Efforts will be made to control fine particulate matter and ozone pollution, to clean up sewage overflow into seas and rivers, to enhance the collection capacity for urban household sewage, to treat wastewater from industrial parks, to prevent soil pollution and to prevent agricultural pollution.  In addition, China will maintain its ban on importing solid waste, promote eco-friendly packages and household waste sorting, and enhance the collection and treatment of hazardous waste and medical waste.
