There are more pet dogs than young children in Brazil according to a household survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Not surprisingly, in 2022 Brazil was the third largest pet market in the world behind the U.S. and China. In a country with 149 million pets, the pet products market has almost doubled in the past six years.

New vet clinics and pet beauty salons tripled during the same period. Future demand is strong with the overall sector expected to grow by 87% in the next five years.

The U.S. Commercial Service invites U.S. exporters of products such as toys, pet and veterinary care supplies, and medicine to contact us. Demand is especially strong for premium products that are eco-friendly and safe to use.
