Contiem Inc. Expands Global Footprint

Contiem, Inc., a veteran-owned small business formerly known as Orbis Technologies, Inc., and located in Annapolis, Maryland, is an enterprise content management software, platform, services, and solutions provider that was established in 2005. In October 2018, Contiem, Inc. CEO and President Brian Ippolito (U.S. Air Force Veteran) and CFO Matthew Fernandez (U.S. Navy Veteran) first reached out to the U.S. Commercial Service (CS) in Maryland and participated in ExporTechTM, a national export assistance program helping companies expand into global markets.

Contiem then enlisted trade support from CS Maryland regarding the acquisition of a potential partner in India. With assistance from CS India, Contiem navigated the Indian ICT market and connected with vetted service providers in banking, accounting, and law to expand its presence in India. “Without a doubt, our most satisfying export experience has been expanding our operations in India and providing a Western work environment for our team there,” Ippolito said.

Over the past few years Contiem, Inc. has fully integrated exporting into its corporate culture to establish itself as an international full-service content management company. Contiem used a wide range of U.S. Commercial Service export programs to help it achieve international success. Today Contiem serves customers in 40 countries through four global operating locations in the United States, Australia, India, and the United Kingdom.

“The U.S. Commercial Service is integral to our international growth. Having bought two international companies and soon to close on our third, we use the U.S. Commercial Service to assist in the due diligence of the acquisition targets and investigate concerns over current and potential future clients,” Ippolito said. “Additionally, we work closely with the U.S. Commercial Service on Single Country Promotion (SCP) events for our current and future clients. The SCPs have generated hundreds of thousands in revenue.”

Like many other veteran-owned companies, Contiem was able to leverage its military training and experience to quickly build rapport with international partners, solve problems, and meet deadlines anywhere in the world. Veterans have the ingrained confidence, discipline, and commitment to succeed in the global marketplace.
