Swanson Health Products is a Fargo, North Dakota-based company providing vitamins, supplements, and other health products across the globe. In May of 2022, Swanson Health Products reached out to the U.S. Commercial Service/North Dakota (CS North Dakota) for assistance in completing due diligence on a potential partner in Kazakhstan. Being a long-time client of CS North Dakota, Swanson Health Products has routinely requested due diligence services for many potential new partners. This regular work with Swanson Health Products drove the innovation of a new service for CS North Dakota – the Rural Export Center (REC) Check. The REC Check leverages the array of databases CS North Dakota has access to, and combines a standardized process in compiling and formulating a streamlined due diligence report on foreign prospects for US companies.

Through the delivery of the REC Check, U.S. Commercial Service / Kazakhstan (CS Kazakhstan) provided valuable in-market intelligence, and the REC Check itself revealed that the Kazakhstani company had multiple indicators of credibility. CS Kazakhstan went the extra mile by reaching out directly to the potential partner, and even went as far as assisting in ensuring the first shipment of test products sent by Swanson Health Products arrived to its proper destination. With the support of the U.S. Commercial Service, Swanson Health Products was able to finalize an agreement with the Kazakhstani distributor in January 2023. This partnership has opened yet a new market for Swanson Health Products as it continues to expand globally.
