U.S. Travel Exports Reach Record High in First Six Months of 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the International Trade Administration (ITA) announced that international visitors spent a record $126.9 billion on U.S. travel and tourism-related goods and services during the first six months of the year (January through June 2025), according to the latest data available via ITA’s National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO).

“President Trump has revitalized our country, ushering in the Golden Age of America. Today’s record tourism numbers prove it,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. “With historic prosperity and President Trump’s focus on public safety, people from around the world are coming to visit in record numbers. This administration is delivering on its promises and restoring the United States as THE place to visit, invest, and do business.”

“The record-breaking inbound tourism under President Trump’s leadership shows the strength and appeal of the United States as the world’s premier travel destination,” said Under Secretary of Commerce William Kimmitt. “The United States offers an unmatched variety of destinations for international travelers, and tourism records will continue to fall under the Trump Administration as the United States prepares to host major international and signature events in the months and years ahead.”

Travel Exports

U.S. travel exports are comprised of inbound tourism expenditures by non-U.S. residents purchasing goods and services on trips to the United States. In the first six months of 2025, international visitor travel to the United States accounted for 7.6 percent of total U.S. trade in goods and services.

The 2025 six-month record-high $126.9 billion in export income surpasses the previous record of $124.1 billion from the same time period in 2024, representing a 2.2 percent increase. Additionally, the first six months of 2025 exceed the pre-COVID travel exports peak of $122.5 billion from the same time period in 2018, reflecting a 3.5 percent increase.
