Brazil Media and Entertainment eSports
Brazil’s rapidly expanding esports market is creating opportunities for U.S. companies in sponsorships, gaming hardware, cloud services, digital advertising, and consumer engagement technologies.
Brazil’s esports industry is becoming one of Latin America’s most commercially attractive gaming markets, driven by a large and highly engaged consumer base, strong digital connectivity, and growing institutional support for competitive gaming events. The recent Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Counter-Strike tournament in Rio de Janeiro highlighted Brazil’s ability to host major international esports events while generating significant sponsorship, branding, and technology partnership opportunities.
Brazil has one of the region’s largest gaming audiences. According to Pesquisa Game Brasil (PGB 2024), approximately 74 percent of Brazilians consume digital games and 75 percent recognize esports as a legitimate sport. The market is heavily driven by younger consumers who are highly active on livestreaming platforms, social media, and influencer channels, making esports an increasingly important marketing platform for consumer-facing brands.
Brazil’s esports market was valued at approximately USD 45 million in 2024 and is projected to exceed USD 185 million by 2033. Growth is being fueled by expanding broadband access, mobile gaming adoption, rising sponsorship investment, and the professionalization of esports leagues and events. Counter-Strike, League of Legends, and Valorant remain among Brazil’s most popular competitive titles.
Major esports tournaments are also generating large global audiences. Recent IEM Rio events attracted approximately 19,000 in-person attendees, while the 2026 edition reportedly surpassed 1.1 million peak concurrent online viewers and generated more than 22 million hours watched globally.
For U.S. companies, Brazil’s esports expansion is creating opportunities beyond gaming itself. Demand is increasing for gaming hardware, high-performance computing equipment, streaming technologies, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity solutions, audiovisual production, digital payments, and fan engagement technologies. Consumer brands are also using esports sponsorships, influencer partnerships, and live-event activations to reach younger Brazilian audiences.
Continued support from the Rio de Janeiro state government and local esports organizations reflects broader efforts to position Brazil as a regional esports hub capable of attracting international investment, tourism, and technology partnerships.
