The International Trade Administration’s National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) has updated its U.S. States and Cities Visited Monitor, a data visualization tool highlighting overseas visitation to U.S. states and cities through interactive tables and maps, to calendar year 2024. Highlights for 2024 include:
- Top state visited by overseas visitors: New York (9,802,000)
- Top city-MSA visited by overseas visitors: New York City (9,525,000)
- Biggest state # gain of overseas visitors from 2023: Florida (+927,000)
- Biggest % gain of overseas visitors from 2023: Vermont (+87.8%)
- Top 5 states’ combined market share: 62.0% of overseas visitors
- Top 5 city-MSA’s combined market share: 48.5% of overseas visitors
