Architecture News: Mutual Recognition Agreement Signed between U.S. and UK Regulators

The United States’ National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and the United Kingdom’s Architects Registration Board (ARB) signed an MRA in February 2022. This new MRA, which enters into effect on April 25, 2023, will enable architects in both countries to more easily register and get licensed in the other country. For U.S. architects, this means that it will increase their opportunities to practice in the United Kingdom and expand their international practice.

As licensure in the United States is regulated at the state level, each of the 55 U.S. architectural jurisdictions will determine whether to participate and incorporate this MRA into their individual licensure eligibilities.
