Two sessions / Free for eligible companies / Register for this webinar
(Also, please read about related roundtable: EU SCIP Roundtable)

Please join the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Mission to the EU to learn about new regulatory requirements regarding the European Substances of Concern in Products (SCIP) database. Registration for the SCIP database is mandatory for companies based in Europe and will also affect U.S. exporters.

  • Companies making any product – electrical or non-electrical – that contains any of the approximately 200 Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) cited in the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation will have to register this product with the SCIP database.
  • Companies might need to show a SCIP ID number to do business in the EU.
  • U.S. companies with branch offices in Europe will have to register products directly into the SCIP database.
  • U.S. exporters will be asked by their European customers for product information so the European buyer can meet SCIP database requirements.
  • Representatives from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), who devised and oversees the database operations, will lead these sessions.

Companies wishing to attend will have to meet the following requirements:

  • Participants must be U.S. domiciled companies and/or must have export content (i.e. exports from the United States to the EU).
  • Participants’ exports or final products must fall under the purview of SCIP database requirements.

There is no charge for eligible companies who wish to join one or both of these 45-minute sessions.

  • The first session is for companies just learning about SCIP or for companies that want to review the regulation.
  • The second session is for more advanced users — companies that have been entering information into the database and might have some specific issues with the database.
