WASHINGTON – Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Enforcement and Compliance Lisa Wang will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, from Wednesday, March 29 to Friday, March 31, 2023, for a “Hometown Tour” to visit local manufacturing facilities at Mid-South Wire Company, Sumiden Wire Products Corporation, and Nashville Wire Products Inc. Assistant Secretary Wang will also participate in a student recruitment event at Tennessee State University, promoting jobs at ITA and in public service.

Hometown Tours aim to connect ITA employees with manufacturers across the United States and allowing those companies the opportunity to express any concerns they might have regarding unfair foreign trade practices. Additionally, these tours are opportunities to directly engage with students and inspire the next generation to pursue careers within the trade sector and the federal government.

“I look forward to visiting with local manufacturers and interacting with university students in Nashville to discuss our work at ITA and Commerce more broadly,” said Assistant Secretary Wang. “These tours are beneficial not only to ITA, but to U.S. industry and students who want to explore careers in the federal government. Meeting in person allows us to gain a better understanding of the entire manufacturing process, as well as the issues and concerns facing U.S. manufacturers as we continue our mandate to ensure fair trade through the rigorous enforcement of U.S. trade laws and agreements.”

More information about ITA’s Hometown Tours can be found here. Interested press should contact rafael.benavides@trade.gov for Assistant Secretary Wang’s media availability.
