Under Secretary Lago Co-chairs U.S.-Japan Economic Policy Consultative Committee Vice-Ministerial Meeting

WASHINGTON - Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago and Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez met virtually today with Japanese Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Ono Keiichi and Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Vice Minister for International Affairs Hosaka Shin on the occasion of the third Vice-Ministerial meeting of the U.S.-Japan Economic Policy Consultative Committee (EPCC). In the meeting, they discussed ongoing and future actions to strengthen the rules-based economic order in the Indo-Pacific region. They also discussed policies and programs to enhance economic and supply chain resilience, energy security, and food security, as well as the promotion and protection of critical and emerging technologies, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and quantum computing. Under Secretary Lago also thanked the Government of Japan for its continued work to advance the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity.
