On September 26, 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) announced its preliminary affirmative determinations in the countervailing duty (CVD) investigations of brass rod from India, Israel, and the Republic of Korea (Korea).

In the Petitions, the petitioners contend that imports of brass rod from Israel may be misclassified under HTSUS 7403.21.0000 and provide supporting documentation to support their claim. As a result, the above import statistics for Israel reflect imports entered under HTSUS subheadings 7407.21.1500, 7407.21.7000, and 7407.21.9000, and 7403.21.0000.

 

Other Case Information

  • The petitioners are the American Brass Rod Fair Trade Coalition and its constituent members, Mueller Brass Co. (Port Huron, MI) and Wieland Chase LLC (Montpelier, OH).
  • To date, Commerce maintains 670 antidumping duty (AD) and CVD orders that provide relief to American companies and industries impacted by unfair trade.
  • On May 17, 2023, Commerce concurrently initiated AD investigations on imports of brass rod from Brazil, India, Israel, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, and South Africa. The preliminary determinations in these AD investigations are currently scheduled to be announced on November 27, 2023.

The Chatbot’s knowledge is limited to the public information on the Export Solutions web pages of Trade.gov, which covers a wide range of topics on exporting. While it cannot provide responses specific to a company’s product or a specific foreign market, its reference pages will guide you to other relevant government resources and market research. Always double-check the Chatbot’s responses using the provided references or by visiting the Export Solutions web pages on Trade.gov. Do not use its responses as legal or professional advice. Inaccurate advice from the Chatbot would not be a defense to violating any export rules or regulations.

Privacy

The Chatbot does not collect information about users and does not use the contents of users’ chat history to learn new information. All feedback is anonymous. Please do not enter personally identifiable information (PII), sensitive, or proprietary information into the Chatbot.
