UK Latest AI Growth Zone 2026

At the end of January 2026, the UK designated North Lanarkshire as its newest AI Growth Zone, a project expected to generate over 3,400 jobs and attract $11.2 billion in private investment. This location is the latest of five designated zones across the country, which have collectively secured at least $38.5 billion in private investment commitments. These zones are a primary pillar of the UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy, aimed at accelerating the buildout of data centers and driving regional economic growth.

Infrastructure development within these zones presents substantial opportunities for U.S. companies with expertise in digital technology and power generation. The Lanarkshire site alone is planned to include more than 500MW of on-site power generation to support AI breakthroughs over the next four years.
