Tanzania Health Budget: Path to Medical Transformation

Tanzania’s Ministry of Health unveiled its key priorities for implementation in the 2025-26 fiscal year as it aims to develop the country’s health sector.  The government allocated US$46 million to strengthen the provision of super-specialized medical services.

Priorities include the introduction of artificial intelligence integration into Radiology, anaesthesiology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Urology, Haematology, maxillofacial surgery and liver transplant services.  This program will commence in government hospitals in Dar es Salaam, Iringa, Tabora, Kigoma and Kilimanjaro.

Other government priority development areas include health care professional career training and implementation of the Health Insurance Act.
