Singapore Next-Generation EV Charging Solutions

Singapore’s rapid electric vehicle (EV) adoption and growing charging infrastructure needs are creating significant opportunities for U.S. companies providing smart charging infrastructure, software, fleet charging systems, energy management systems, and charging infrastructure for commercial, logistics, and heavy-duty vehicles.

Under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, Singapore is accelerating its transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs, with a full ban on new diesel passenger cars and taxis taking effect in 2025. By 2030, all new car and taxi registrations are required to be clean-energy models with the entire vehicle population transitioning by 2040. Beyond passenger vehicles, Singapore is also accelerating the electrification of commercial fleets, buses, logistics vehicles, and industrial transport, expanding demand for advanced charging infrastructure and fleet management solutions.

Singapore is shifting from broad consumer purchase subsidies toward infrastructure and regulatory mandates to support mass EV adoption. As of early 2026, EVs accounted for 57.6% of all new car registrations, supported in part by incentives available through the end of the year, including the $17,500 (S$22,500) Vehicular Emissions Scheme (VES) rebate and the $5,800 (S$7,500) Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive (EEAI). Although Chinese manufacturers dominate the mass market, Tesla captured 11.4% of new registrations, demonstrating continued demand for premium, high-performance EVs. Beginning in 2027, the EEAI ends, the VES rebate will be reduced to $15,500 (S$20,000), and hybrid vehicles will lose rebates under a stricter 90 g/km emissions limit.

Singapore aims to deploy 60,000 EV charging points by 2030, including 40,000 public and 20,000 private chargers. Around 30,500 chargers have already been installed, with over 7,500 chargers across 85% of Housing and Development Board (HDB) car parks. By the end of 2027, every HDB town will have at least one fast-charging hub, significantly improving nationwide charging accessibility. Under the Electric Vehicles Charging Act (EVCA), new buildings or major redevelopments must incorporate EV charging infrastructure.

To strengthen Singapore’s EV ecosystem and improve the Electric Heavy Vehicles (eHV) charging network, the government introduced the Heavy Vehicle Zero Emissions Scheme (HVZES) and the Electric Heavy Vehicle Charger Grant (EHVCG), supporting both eHV adoption and the deployment of eHV chargers in Singapore. As land availability and grid capacity become increasingly constrained, demand is also expected to grow for intelligent charging infrastructure, software, and fleet electrification that optimize energy consumption and support grid resilience.
