Romania National Health Digitalization Strategy 2026–2030
Romania’s Ministry of Health has introduced for consultation the Draft National Health Digitalization Strategy 2026–2030, signaling a major shift toward modernizing the country’s healthcare system through digital innovation consultation (see draft strategy and the explanatory note). The strategy aims to overcome persistent challenges such as fragmented health data, limited interoperability between systems, and gaps in digital skills among healthcare professionals. By focusing on digital transformation, Romania seeks to create a more integrated, patient-centered healthcare environment. The plan emphasizes upgrading infrastructure, including electronic health records and telemedicine platforms, and strengthening digital competencies across the health sector.
This national strategy creates substantial opportunities for U.S. companies specializing in digital health. The Romanian government’s priorities will drive demand for solutions such as interoperable electronic health records, telehealth and telemedicine platforms, secure data management systems, and advanced analytics tools. There is also a clear need for expertise in cybersecurity, cloud services, and workforce training to support the digital transition. U.S. firms with proven technologies and experience in these areas can play a key role in Romania’s digital health transformation.
To participate, U.S. companies should align their products and services with the strategy’s focus areas, such as expanding telehealth, improving system interoperability, and enhancing digital literacy. By doing so, they can position themselves for public tenders, strategic partnerships, and long-term contracts as Romania implements its digital health vision.
