KEBS recently published a legal notice informing all stakeholders and the public that the inspection companies who won the KEBS’ PVOC Tender for 2022-2025 have officially been subcontracted. The notice cancels and supersedes the notices published prior to this release.

The companies will offer PVoC services for the next three (3) years beginning June 23, 2022.  The subcontracted companies are as follows.

1. SGS
2. Bureau Veritas
3. World Standardization Certification & Testing Group (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd
4. China Certification & Inspection Group Co. Ltd
5. TUV Austria Turk
6. China Hansom Inspection & Certificate Co. Ltd

The PVoC Program has subdivided the globe into zones. Each zone has one inspection body that will provide the services on behalf of KEBS. North America, including the U.S., will be serviced by SGS.

All consignments shipped after 1st July 2022, from countries where KEBS has appointed inspection companies (including the U.S.) must be accompanied with Certificates of Conformity. Shipments which fail to comply shall be subjected to a destination inspection at a fee of 5% of the approved customs value.

PVoC EXEMPTION
PVoC exempted goods include raw materials, machines and spares imported by registered local manufacturers, products certified by KEBS under the Diamond Mark of quality product certification, and products waived by the government through the Cabinet Secretary of Industry, Trade and Cooperative Development. For further details on the exception see the Kenya Bureau of Standards PVOC-MANUAL_v12.pdf (kebs.org)

DESTINATION INSPECTION
The Destination Inspection process will still be available on a special basis for a chargeable fee based on which criteria the goods fall under.

Normally, the destination inspection program is specific for goods imported from countries where KEBS has no pre-inspection arrangements.
