Jordan Healthcare: Hospital Expansion Fuels Demand for Medical Device and Health IT Suppliers

Overview

Jordan’s hospital projects and digital health upgrades offer strong opportunities for U.S. health and life sciences exporters, especially medical device and health IT suppliers.

Jordan has a high demand for advanced medical technologies driven by population growth, chronic disease, and medical tourism. Domestic production is limited, and around 75 percent of the market relies on imports that must meet FDA, CE, or Japanese certification. The United States remains a top supplier of imaging, surgical, orthopedic, and patient-care equipment.

A growing pipeline of hospital construction and expansion projects is boosting demand. These projects are generating demand for diagnostic imaging, surgical and ICU systems, oncology technologies, laboratory equipment, hospital furnishings, ERP systems, and more.

Public-sector procurement is managed by the Ministry of Health, Royal Medical Services, and the Government Procurement Department, which handles centralized purchasing for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Foreign companies may bid on public tenders, but working with a locally registered distributor is often required to comply with Jordan Food and Drug Administration regulations.

Timeline: Main equipment tender issued; additional packages expected in 2026.
