Chile Procurement Mercado Público

Mercado Público (Public Market) is Chile’s national e-procurement platform, and a key step for U.S. companies looking to sell to Chile’s public sector.  It is managed by ChileCompra, the national procurement agency under the Ministry of Finance.

The platform consolidates national demand into one site and hosts over 850 public buyers including ministries, regional governments, and public hospitals.  Once registered with Mercado Público, companies can search for opportunities, submit inquires, submit bids, and administer contracts, streamlining the procurement process.

To register for Mercado Público, go to its website and find Regístrate (Register).  For U.S. companies, select Usuarios Extranjeros (Foreign Users) and choose a preferred language to continue the process.  Next, fill out all required information, both personal and business details, in the online form.  There, U.S. companies can choose industries to which their products are related and see possible procurement opportunities in the Chilean market.

ChileCompra has also created a video tutorial available with English audio to explain the registration process.

U.S. companies may also wish to partner with a local distributor or representative to enter the Chilean market more easily.  Chilean distributors or representatives act as helpful points of reference to better navigate procurement processes like ensuring all official bidding documents and submissions are in Spanish.

Companies may also consider attending the Expo Mercado Público trade show in September 2026 in Santiago.
