Chile Artificial Intelligence
Chile’s regional leadership and government focus on investment in artificial intelligence provide opportunities for U.S. AI-related products and services.
Chile is a regional leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure. In 2025, Chile scored 73.07/100 in the 2025 Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index, higher than any other country included. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), 78 percent of Chilean companies are already integrating AI into their business models or exploring options with the technology. To sustain this momentum, the government is promoting investment into digital development through its “Choose Chile” initiative, a campaign to attract high-level technological projects to Chile.
Chile’s rapidly evolving AI and data‑governance landscape is reshaping its digital transformation and expanding its role as a regional and international technology partner. Chile’s digital transformation is driven by the 2025 /2026 AI Regulation Bill (Boletín N° 16.821-19) and the impending December 2026 data privacy enforcement compliance deadline under its new Personal Data Protection Agency (Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales). In June 2026, Chile signed Pax Silica, a U.S. initiative to promote reliable information networks for technologies like AI, signaling increased bilateral cooperation in the sector. Furthermore, Chile’s National Center for Artificial Intelligence (CENIA) is spearheading the LatamGPT initiative, Latin America’s first collaborative large language model, along with 14 other countries in the region.
A digital infrastructure boom across the country is underway. Chile has positioned itself a premier data center hub with over 50 active centers and more in development. Chile’s focus on renewable energy and water usage lead to a coinciding need for on-site renewable energy generation equipment, liquid cooling systems, or backup power systems to continue data center growth.
Chile’s regulatory focus on data governance and its tech talent deficit offers room for U.S. firms to export automated AI tools to keep Chilean businesses compliant and secure. High demand exists for sovereign cloud privacy and compliance software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms that autonomously scan and protect corporate user data. Additionally, opportunities exist in online training platforms to increase AI literacy across the country.
Companies may also see opportunities for artificial intelligence in Chile’s resource-intensive industries like mining and agriculture. Both sectors face operational challenges that pose opportunities for AI software and tools to maximize yield optimization, automate hazardous tasks, and predict machinery failures. Opportunities exist in computer-vision sorting systems, precision irrigation systems, plant condition monitoring systems and predictive maintenance software.
Partnering with a local distributor or representative may help companies enter the Chilean market more easily. Including access to Spanish-language interfaces, technical support, and marketing materials is critical.
Whether exporting AI-enabled cybersecurity platforms, digital training resources, or autonomous industrial systems, U.S. companies are well-positioned to support Chile’s digital transition.
