Brazil Oil and Gas Petrobras CCUS

Petrobras, Brazil´s largest oil & gas company, has announced the São Tomé Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project. This integrated pilot project will combine carbon capture, transport, and geological storage in a saline reservoir. CCS São Tomé is expected to capture up to 100,000 tons of CO2 per year from 2028 to 2031. Brazil is a market with growing opportunities for CCS projects both on industrial applications and BECCS (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage) technologies, thanks to a new law that now provides a regulatory framework for CCS and other low-carbon technologies.

Petrobras announced a tender to integrate the design engineering, procurement, commissioning, civil works, and equipment installation for its gas treatment plant and compressing stations.

U.S. EPCs with expertise in Carbon Capture and Storage projects and suppliers of equipment such as compressors, valves, and pipe coatings, should contact the U.S. Commercial Service in Brazil for further information about the tender. Our office can also provide guidance on how to become a supplier for this and other Petrobras projects.
