On April 28, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) announced the initiation of a countervailing duty (CVD) investigation carbon and alloy steel wire rod from Algeria.

Next Steps

  • Commerce is scheduled to announce its preliminary determination on July 2, 2026. This deadline may be extended in accordance with the statute.
  • There is no concurrent injury investigation by the U.S. International Trade Commission because Algeria is not a “Subsidies Agreement Country” within the meaning of the CVD law. Therefore, no injury determination is required for the CVD investigation on imports of carbon and alloy steel wire rod from Algeria.

Always double-check the Chatbot’s responses using the provided references or by visiting the Export Solutions web pages on Trade.gov. Do not use its responses as legal or professional advice. Inaccurate advice from the Chatbot would not be a defense to violating any export rules or regulations.

Privacy

The Chatbot does not collect information about users and does not use the contents of users’ chat history to learn new information. All feedback is anonymous.
