Overseas Visitation to the United States Up 8.0 percent Year Over Year in April 2025
Data recently released by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) show that in April 2025:
(Note: Easter occurred on March 31 in 2024 and on April 20 in 2025, impacting both March and April comparisons.)
U.S.-international air traffic passenger enplanements1 totaled:
- 22.116 million in April 2025, up 2.8 percent compared to April 2024, with enplanements reaching 104.95 percentāÆof pre-pandemic April 2019 volume.
Originating Non-Stop Air Travel in April 2025
- Non-U.S. citizen air passenger arrivalsāÆto the United States from foreign countries totaled:
- 5.040 million in April 2025, up 2.9 percent compared to April 2024.
- This represents 88.2 percent of pre-pandemic April 2019 volume.

On a related note, overseas visitor arrivals2 totaled 3.047 million in April 2025, which reached 85.6 percent of pre-pandemic April 2019 volume, up from 82.9 percent in March 2025. April 2025 overseas visitor arrivals increased 8.0 percent compared to April 2024. (See April I-94 Advance Release)
- U.S. citizen air passenger departures from the United States to foreign countries totaled:
- 5.919 million in April 2025, up 6.2 percent from April 2024
- This exceeded April 2019 volume by 24.7 percent.

World Region Highlights in April 2025 (APIS/I-92 arrivals + departures)
- Total air passenger travel (arrivals and departures) between the United States and other countries were led by Mexico (3.449 million), Canada (2.485 million), the United Kingdom (1.765 million), the Dominican Republic (913,000), and Japan (875,000).
- International regional air travel to/from the United States:
- Europe totaled 6.396 million passengers, up 4.4 percent over April 2024, and up (3.2 percent) compared to April 2019.
- (U.S citizen departures were up 25.9 percent compared to April 2019, while European citizen arrivals were down 13.5 percent.)

- South/Central America/Caribbean totaled 5.450 million, up 0.4 percent over April 2024, and up 12.2 percent compared to April 2019.
- Asia totaled 2.542 million passengers, up 9.3 percent over April 2024, but down (14.7 percent) compared to April 2019.
- (Asian citizen arrivals to the U.S. were down 35.7 percent percent compared to April 2019, and U.S. citizen departures were up 14.4 percent.)

- Top U.S. ports serving international locations were New York (JFK) 2.955 million, Los Angeles (LAX) 2.011 million, Miami (MIA) 1.982 million, Newark (EWR) 1.328 million, and San Francisco (SFO) 1.310 million.
- Top foreign serving U.S. locations were London Heathrow (LHR) 1.524 million, Cancun (CUN) 1.023 million, Toronto (YYZ) 1.020 million, Paris (CDG) 722,000, and Mexico City (MEX) 713,000.
