Success Story

Market Research Drives Sea Foam’s Expansion into New International Markets

Headquartered in Chaska, Minnesota, fuel additive manufacturer Sea Foam created a strategic plan to expand around the globe. Who better to help them achieve their dream than America’s Export Experts, the U.S. Commercial Service (CS)?

Working with the Rural Export Center’s Heather Ranck in North Dakota, the company obtained an in-depth “RAISE” research report, including lists of potential partners, a tariff/landed cost comparison, and country-specific information on the automotive industry. The research confirmed that there were strong opportunities in Mexico and China. Sea Foam then received counseling from Heather’s colleagues in both countries, who helped them through the process of signing their distribution partner and securing sales into both countries.

“Quality data to making informed decisions on entering foreign markets is hard to obtain and very expensive. The CS’s rural research (RAISE) program takes this process over and makes it quick and easy. US companies looking to enter foreign markets would be foolish not to tap into this wonderful resource.” – Michael Wagner, CEO, Sea Foam
