DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Today, U.S. Department of Commerce Under Secretary for International Trade Marisa Lago and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of the Middle East and Africa Camille Richardson celebrated International Women’s Day with speaking engagements centered on women’s economic empowerment at Trade Winds and the World Expo.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Richardson welcomed participants to the second day of the Women Empowered Leave Legacies in Trade and Investment Summit, where she moderated a roundtable discussion on women in tech and innovation that featured keynote remarks from Under Secretary Lago and prominent women business leaders from the United States and United Arab Emirates.

Under Secretary Lago also visited the Women’s Pavilion at Expo, where she congratulated the graduating class of Emirati business women from the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE). AWE is a six-month program that supports established women-owned small and medium-sized enterprises in the United Arab Emirates to focus on their business resilience and adaptability.
