U.S. Commerce Department Releases Data on Information Technology,
Telecommunications and E-Commerce Markets For U.S. Businesses

The U.S. Department of Commerce today released the latest ExportIT reports that highlight market opportunities in Argentina, Central Europe and Mexico for U.S. information technology, telecommunications and e-commerce companies.

“The more informed U.S. businesses are about market opportunities with our trading partners in neighboring countries, the better equipped they are to expand, create jobs and succeed,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Don Evans.  “This means more jobs and an overall stronger U.S. economy.”  Secretary Evans will lead a business development mission to Mexico City and Monterrey, Mexico, June 17‑20.

The ExportIT reports are the latest in a series that analyze trends, key issues, and events in information technology, telecommunications, Internet and e-commerce in other countries to help U.S. small and medium-sized businesses make educated decisions about entering these markets.

These reports also highlight market opportunities and provide suggested market entry strategies, including descriptions of U.S. Department of Commerce export assistance programs as well as a list of key contacts in the United States and in each country who can assist U.S. firms in entering these markets.

Department of Commerce international trade specialists and U.S. Commercial Service staff in each country conducted in-country market research and analysis by interviewing representatives of software, Internet and telecommunications equipment and services companies, trade associations, industry analysts, and government officials.

The ExportIT reports are available online at: http://ExportIT.ita.doc.gov  and http://telecom.ita.doc.gov

Future reports will cover IT, telecommunications and e-commerce markets in Japan, Brazil, France and Germany and are expected to be available by July 2002.
