Preliminary Determination in the Antidumping Investigation:
Certain Tin Mill Products from Japan

On April 6, 2000, the Department of Commerce (ADOC@) announced the preliminary determination in the antidumping (AAD@) investigation on Certain Tin Mill Products from Japan.

PETITIONERS:

The AD petition was filed on behalf of the U.S. steel industry by the following domestic producers and unions: Weirton Steel Corporation; the United Steel Workers of America; and the Independent Steelworkers Union.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The merchandise subject to these investigations are certain tin mill products. The technical language describing the scope of the investigations will be included in the preliminary determination notice which will be published in the Federal Register.

CASE CALENDAR:

The following determinations will be made not later than these statutory deadlines:

Petition Filed: October 28, 1999

Initiation: November 17, 1999

ITC Preliminary Determination: December 13, 1999

DOC Preliminary Determination: April 5, 2000

DOC Final Determination: June 19, 2000*

ITC Final Determination (estimated):August 3, 2000

Order (estimated):August 10, 2000

* U.S. law allows these dates to be extended

If DOC makes an affirmative final AD determination, the ITC must make a final injury determination within 45 days. If that determination is affirmative, DOC will issue a duty order.
