Panel Title: Alternative Energy Technologies- Trends in Non-Traditional Alternative Energy Technologies

With ever increasing demands on global energy supplies, nations need to explore alternative renewable energy sources to reduce the effects of energy insecurity, high prices, and dependence on fossil fuels, supply disruptions and environmental impacts on economic development. This panel will highlight trends and best practices for non-traditional alternative energy technologies in areas including ethanol, biomass, biodiesel, and instream tidal technology.

Panel Title: Ideation to Commercialization- Bringing Ideas to the Marketplace

Innovation is a critical force that drives economic growth, enables living standards to increase and improves the quality of life. We can help spur innovation and increase economic development by improving the transition of cutting edge research and technological advancements from incubators and universities to commercial viability. This panel will examine the ideation process in the development of new products and services across multiple industries and discuss how best to foster and channel creativity that result in the most effective and fertile product/service concepts. Discussion will also touch on the balance needed between structure and creativity to focus the ideation process to best develop products or services that will be accepted in the marketplace.

Development of best practices, training and education programs, and the partnering of universities, business, and governments are critical to developing an advanced economy and boosting productivity growth. Discussion will focus on these and other factors that drive a continually rising standard of living.

Panel Title: Private/Public Collaboration and Partnerships- Partnerships Advancing Economic Growth and Living Conditions

Private/Public Case Studies are set within a frame work that identifies the scope of the challenge, the requirement for goals beyond near term profits, the role of government and business in the solution, the introduction of long term benefit to emerging market places with the establishment of regionally focused “capacity building” and training centers as well as academic collaborations, and what’s working currently and what is evolving.

 

Panel Title: Sustainability and Reducing the Footprint on Ecological Resources

Sustainability is an opportunity for creative and innovative ways for the current generation of consumers, businesses and governments to better use and shepherd finite ecological resources. Through the application of technology, new business management models and the implementation of sound polices sustainability can reduce the burden placed on finite ecological resources without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
