Under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) conducts investigations into allegations of unfair practices in import trade. Section 337 provides holders of U.S. patents, copyrights, and trademarks with recourse when imports into the U.S. market infringe on patent, copyright, and trademark laws.
During the process of determining whether the remedies proposed by the ITC for Section 337 violations are appropriate, the Department of Commerce is provided an opportunity to comment. Industry experts from Manufacturing and Services review and comment, as necessary, on Section 337 cases.
